Key permit granted to McEwen’s Gold Bar project in Nevada

Canadian precious metals producer McEwen Mining (TSX, NYSE:MUX) scored Tuesday a key win in the permitting process for its Gold Bar project in Nevada, US, as the country’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has published a “notice of availability of the final environmental impact statement” in the Federal Register.

This milestone, the company said, means that the required National Environmental Policy Act process could be completed by November, following a review period.

The Gold Bar open-pit mine is expected to generate 65,000 ounces of gold annually over an 8-year mine life, with production beginning in 2019. It is also estimated to generate about 120 permanent jobs.
